Ogemek Charity Foundation on November 7, 2025, held a one-day free medical outreach at Ihe, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, providing vital healthcare services to more than 120 residents.

The outreach, which aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), reflects Ogemek’s ongoing commitment to building stronger, healthier communities through the spirit of Agape Empowerment.

The outreach offered a wide range of services, including health education, dental treatment, prostate (PSA) screening, blood sugar and malaria tests, eye examinations, general body check-ups, free medicated eyeglasses, tooth extractions, scaling and polishing, and medications for various conditions.

Speaking on the general impact of the outreach, the  Coordinator and Chaplain of  Ogemek Charity Foundation expressed gratitude for the success of the program, describing the outreach as “very impactful.”

“We thank God for the success of today’s outreach,” he said. “I appreciate our CEO for providing the financial resources and the entire team for their unwavering dedication.”

Similarly, the Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Owuamalam, Chika Florence expressed deep gratitude for the team’s efforts and the warm reception from the host community.

“I am grateful for what we are doing as a team. The community members were genuinely excited to see us,” she said. “I want to thank the entire Ogemek team for their commitment and our CEO, Dr. Fredrick Iloegbune, for his continued support that makes all of this possible.”

Community Impact

The outreach brought vital healthcare directly to the people of Ihe, touching many lives and stirring deep appreciation amongst residents. The traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Igwe George Asadu, joined others in expressing gratitude to the Ogemek Charity Foundation for extending such care and compassion to his people.

“We thank you for coming to our community to help our people,” he said. “May God continue to bless the foundation for remembering us.”

Residents also shared their excitement and relief after receiving free tests, medications, and consultations.

“I received free checks, was tested for prostate issues, and given medication,” said Prince Okechukwu Asadu. “All I can say is that God will continue to bless the foundation.”

In the same vein, Ogemek volunteers and medical professionals who took part in the outreach shared in that same excitement, describing the experience as both humbling and fulfilling.

Mrs. Mercy Akujobi, one of the dental therapists who offered her services during the outreach, said hearing from patients made the effort worthwhile.

“I’m so happy because one of my patients said, ‘I came here with a heavy mouth, and now I feel light,’” she shared. “Hearing testimonies like this gives me so much joy.”

For Dr. Afamefuna Somto Jennifer, an optometrist, the outreach was both rewarding and necessary.

“I love participating in charity and community eye care because many people can’t afford this in regular hospitals,” she said. “We saw cases like glaucoma and cataracts

while Dr. Arinze Okechukwu reflected on helping many people with dental issues through extractions, scaling, and polishing, describing it as a true blessing for the community.

Dr. Nweze on his part, added that it was a very laudable move to bring care to these people, doing their best and giving glory to God.

However, Mrs. Oby Okorafor, Team Lead of Ogemek’s Hospitality Unit, who also commented on the impact of the outreach, said  the initiative was one of the foundation’s many ways of reaching out to communities.

“I’m happy to give my best as a volunteer, making sure there was decorum throughout the outreach, It’s always fulfilling to be part of something that changes lives she said”

Other members of the medical team equally shared their experiences and pledged continuous commitment for future/community outreaches.

Through initiatives like this, Ogemek continues its mission of empowering people to empower communities, bringing health, support, and opportunity directly to those who need it most.
