The spirit of the Christmas season came alive in Akama Oghe as over 700 residents gathered at Camp of Grace, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, on December 22 for the annual Christmas outreach.

The initiative, organized by Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze, member representing  Ezeagu constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, in partnership with OGEMEK Charity Foundation, brought care, support, and relief to hundreds of community members.

Many who attended received medical care, including blood sugar tests, prostate checks, eye screenings, and other essential health examinations. Medicated eyeglasses and vital medications were provided to those in need, while food items, cash support, and other relief materials were also shared with underprivileged members of the community, ensuring that both immediate needs and long-term health concerns were addressed.

Speaking during the outreach, Dr. Frederick Iloegbune, Chief Executive Officer, OGEMEK Charity Foundation, pledged to expand the initiative to provide health insurance coverage for indigent members of the community, aiming for a more inclusive and sustainable program.

He emphasized that OGEMEK’s mission is to empower people so communities can be empowered at large.

On his part, Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze noted that the initiative has remained an annual tradition rooted in giving back to the community.

He explained that healthcare was added this year in recognition of its importance, noting that the partnership with OGEMEK Charity Foundation made it possible to extend meaningful medical support alongside the usual seasonal goodwill.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries who were visibly happy, expressed appreciation to both Hon.  Obieze and OGEMEK Charity Foundation.
